I’ve always loved reading and writing and, since childhood, had dreamed of writing my own books and sharing my stories with the world. Back in 2009 I awoke from a dream that set my imagination racing. I grabbed a pen, jotted down what I remembered, and knew I had to explore it further. Lots of note-taking and world-building later, I finally sat down to compile my notes into a cohesive story. The first part of that story was my debut novel, Shadowborne.
My books blend my love of history and exploration but exist within a world of fantasy. I set out to write the books that I would be interested in reading. Given that, they contain both fast-paced action and adventure and in-depth history and world-building.
On the personal side of things, I have a degree in Classical Studies from Lewis & Clark College. I’ve always been fascinated by the ancient Greco-Roman world and I’ve enjoyed seeing how my background in the field bleeds through into my work. My wife and I are both avid consumers of creative expression and can usually be found with our heads buried in books or exploring the fantastic storytelling available on the various streaming platforms (more often than not, also enjoying a good glass of wine).
I love to travel and explore new places. I love getting to know people and hear their stories. I love inspiring people and helping them thrive in whatever ways I can.
